Step by step

Another bleary eyed morning. I can report that school is still going well and I'm having fun. I'm almost ready to give you all the details about the announcement I hinted at a few posts back. I also had to mention the gorgeous biscuits that Nicole from Pinch My Salt created and posted on her blog recently - go check these out because everyone needs a good biscuit now and then am I right?

Top Chef

So we finally said goodbye to Howie on this most recent episode of Top Chef. In some ways I was surprised but in others not at all. Howie was probably the most controversial chef in this season's competition, and sometimes he was incredibly abrasive, but I for one really admire his ability to step up and say it like it is. This especially held true in his last competition. Those little mushroom duxelles were not the most beautiful things I'd ever seen, but you know what I honestly would have probably liked them very much. Did Tom C. seem a little nit picky to you on this one? I believe that the judge's opinions of the chefs' personalities weigh a great deal more into these decisions than one would hope. Why were the judges so harsh with Brian though? I thought he did a great job holding everyone together, even though he probably should have kept everyone focused on one dish per contestant. Casey got her due this time, and I congratulate her on her challenge win. This competition is winding down, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. One more thing, can I just say I freaking LOVE Tony Bourdain? If you are not reading his blog for each week's episode of Top Chef you are definitely missing out. He is hilarious and on the mark. He mentions he is guest judging again next week and I for one cannot wait!!

Oh, by the way...

Yes, I did watch Top Chef last night - I'll post my thoughts about it when I get home this afternoon!
Today is Thursday, and I'm sipping my coffee. School is going very well so far - really like my professor, and I'm actually starting to understand a little French grammar, so that's a plus. Things on the homefront are a little iffy at the moment though. There's something going on with me right now that I'm still not ready to formally announce, but I will have details for you soon once things are finalized one way or the other. I know I've not been cooking lately and I do apologize for that once again, but if things work out the way I'm hoping for then I will have a lot more material for you on the cooking topic very soon. Make the most of the day, and I'll be seeing you soon.

Back to the grind

Sorry I haven't been posting in the last few days, but my grandmother has been in the hospital with a very nasty case of pneumonia. She's getting better now, but I've been in East Texas with her and haven't really been near a computer, or a stove! I'm back home now, and will be getting back to you shortly with another update.

It's Wednesday, and another school day for me. My French class seems like it's going to be fun; the professor appears to be very nice and that always helps. I haven't done alot of cooking so far this week, but I'm hoping with the lovely long weekend I have coming up that I'll be able to get in the kitchen and make something special. Hooray for Labor Day!
